Subaru "Work Play Love" Tour Brings All-new Impreza and Fresh Air Therapy to Like-minded Companies Across the Country
- Subaru "Work Play Love" Tour celebrates the balance of work and play
- Subaru invites workday warriors to take a break and assume active lifestyle personas
[[posterous-content:pid___0]]
"Subaru is visiting companies that are recognized for having a positive work-life balance," said Todd Lawrence, promotions and sponsorships manager, Subaru of America. "Our 'Work Play Love' tour is a recognition of those efforts and an invitation to come out and play."
Subaru and active lifestyle partners such as KEEN Footwear, Yakima and Trek will make more than 50 fresh air therapy stops at various companies across the U.S. Employees at these companies will enjoy outdoor games, a DIY trail mix station, product demonstrations, giveaways and more. "Work Play Love" was conceived for Subaru by NORTH, brand communications agency based in Portland, Oregon.
"More and more people are looking for ways to achieve life-work balance," said Rebecca Armstrong, principal and managing director at NORTH. "Subaru personifies outdoor play and, as such, is ideally positioned to serve this need."
Workday Warriors
"Everyone has an inner adventurer waiting to get out and the all-new 2012 Impreza is the car to get you there. The 2012 Impreza is the most fuel efficient all wheel drive car in the country. Its fuel economy, durability and versatility make it the perfect vehicle for the active, adventurer in all of us," said Lawrence.
"Work Play Love" attendees can harness their inner adventurer by assuming one of three Impreza personas: The Balance Seeker, The Urbaneer and The Fresh Air Follower. Each Work Play Love tour stop will feature an Impreza outfitted according to those lifestyle personas. Tour attendees can assume those lifestyle personas and engage with their associated products. For example, KEEN is offering attendees of all personas to take recess from work and join a game of tetherball or play corn hole.
At the Workday Warrior Photo Booth, tour attendees can choose from the dozens of products, props – including fake mud and snow – and themed backdrops to create a unique, fun photo. Their themed photos are then featured on a custom iPad application where the Workday Warrior can generate emails with links to the photos. The persona photos live instantly on the web for download, sharing and uploading to Facebook.

2012 Impreza Work Play Love Tour Personas
The Balance Seeker finds harmony in the fresh air and on the yoga mat. While they are successful at their jobs, they never live to work. A typical Saturday might include a visit to the farmer's market, a walk with the dog and the tree pose in a nearby city park. In short, they know how to breathe.
Favorite Impreza features: fuel efficiency and moonroof
The Urbaneer is an explorer of both cement jungles and tucked-away neighborhoods. Come rain or shine, workload or deadline, they always make time to get out and play. Their car might be filled with flea market finds, bike tubes, restaurant guides and backpacks. That's because their curiosity cannot be contained and they are up for anything.
Favorite Impreza features: zippy handling and built-in Bluetooth
The Fresh Air Follower loves having a pack on their back and a challenge in their sights. Whether its mountain biking to a hidden spot or camping under the stars, they escape to the trees every chance they get.
Favorite Impreza features: all-wheel drive and major cargo space

On or Off Road, Subaru Outback Is Deemed Fit for Families
From safety and fuel efficiency to cargo room and passenger space, families have a lot to think about when making their next vehicle purchase. In its quest to help families narrow down their list of vehicles to consider, Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com recently released its list of the 10 Best Family Cars for 2012. Coming in at number four on that list is the 2012 Subaru Outback available at Subaru dealerships across the country.
As an automotive researching and reporting website, kbb.com regularly informs car shoppers about which vehicles perform well in different categories. For its annual list of the 10 Best Family Cars, the site’s editors recognize new cars from a variety of classes that suit the varying needs and tastes of families. This year’s list included models that stand out in areas like safety, comfort, child-friendliness, overall cost of ownership and, in the case of the Subaru Outback, off-road capability.
“The Subaru Outback is the perfect car for families who want cargo and passenger room, but don’t need that extra third row,” said Chris Dunn, general sales manager of Raynham, Massachusetts Subaru dealership Mastria Subaru. “By adding in a superior all-wheel-drive system that’s ideal for New England winters, Subaru ensures that the Outback can handle just about anything families can throw at it.”
To claim its spot on the 10 Best Family Cars list this year, the Subaru Outback impressed judges with standard equipment that enhances its capability for both on- and off-road adventures. Kbb.com noted that every Outback is equipped with all-wheel drive, an integrated roof rack and 8.7 inches of ground clearance to help it tackle off-road camping trips. The automotive site also highlighted the Outback’s cost-saving fuel efficiency, which reaches up to 29 mpg on the highway, its ample cargo space and seating for five adults.
The standard 2012 Subaru Outback is powered by a 2.5-liter Subaru Boxer engine, which delivers 170 horsepower to all four tires thanks to the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. Because the system has the engine mounted in line with the rest of the drivetrain, drivers can maintain better stability and control with less risk of oversteer or understeer compared to typical rear-wheel-drive or front-wheel-drive vehicles.
Talk show host Ellen Degeneres recently gave away a Subaru Outback to one woman in need of its family-friendly features. The recipient of the Outback, Amber White of Danville, Indiana, wrote to Ellen because her unreliable vehicle made her both worried for her baby’s safety and fearful of being stranded should the car fail her. When Degeneres revealed the new Outback to White, she also touted the wagon’s fuel efficiency, all-wheel-drive system and safety components, adding that it is an ideal vehicle for a family.
“There’s no better all-purpose family vehicle than the Outback,” added Dunn. “The wagon is efficient enough to be a daily driver but competent enough to bring the family off road. There’s no more need for two vehicles serving different functions, because the Outback does it all.”

Announcing Preservation Hall Jazz Band
MCG Jazz, a concert hall sponsored by Baierl, is happy to announce that Preservation Hall Jazz Band will be performing on March 24 at 8 pm and March 25 at 2:30 pm.
If you already have tickets for Toots Theilemans & Kenny Werner, your tickets will be honored for the Preservation Hall Jazz band concert on the same day. If you would like to exchange your tickets to a different artist, please call the box office at 412-322-0800 and will do our best to accomodate your wishes.
The PRESERVATION HALL JAZZ BAND derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Whether performing at Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center, for British Royalty or the King of Thailand, this music embodies a joyful, timeless spirit. Under the auspices of current director, Ben Jaffe, the son of founders Allan and Sandra, Preservation Hall continues with a deep reverence and consciousness of its greatest attributes in the modern day as a venue, band, and record label.
The building that houses Preservation Hall has housed many businesses over the years including a tavern during the war of 1812, a photo studio and an art gallery. It was during the years of the art gallery that then owner, Larry Borenstein, began holding informal jam sessions for his close friends. Out of these sessions grew the concept of Preservation Hall. The intimate venue, whose weathered exterior has been untouched over its history, is a living embodiment of its original vision. To this day, Preservation Hall has no drinks, air conditioning, or other typical accoutrements strictly welcoming people of all ages interested in having one of the last pure music experiences left on the earth.
The PHJB began touring in 1963 and for many years there were several bands successfully touring under the name Preservation Hall. Many of the band's charter members performed with the pioneers who invented jazz in the early twentieth century including Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, and Bunk Johnson. Band leaders over the band's history include the brothers Willie and Percy Humphrey, husband and wife Billie and De De Pierce, famed pianist Sweet Emma Barrett, and in the modern day Wendall and John Brunious. These founding artists and dozens of others passed on the lessons of their music to a younger generation who now follow in their footsteps like the current lineup.

Subaru Taps Nostalgia For The First Car
The online effort, www.FirstCarStory.com, uses an animation generator through which people can recreate the look and feel of their first car (such as style, color and condition) and tell the story of what made that car special. The program uses a technology that turns words and phrases into custom animation. As users type out their story, the program highlights the words or phrases that it will animate. Users are also encouraged to highlight the words and phrases that are special to them.
Users can choose between several soundtrack options (from punk to metal to beach jams) for their video and can record a narrative for the video. They are then encouraged to share the video on Facebook (and tag appropriate friends).
The effort is intended to link those first-car memories to Subaru overall, and the Imprezza specifically, evoking the feelings of freedom and independence that comes from owning a car. Subaru’s overall reliability (96% of the company’s cars built in the past 10 years are still on the road) makes it an ideal first-car choice, according to the company.
“Everyone loved their first car, no matter how bad, beat up, or borrowed. That first car became a new chapter in life or a ticket to freedom and first-car stories are often the most memorable stories we have,” said Alan Bethke, director, marketing communications, Subaru of America, in a statement. “The First Car Story campaign provides a creative outlet for reliving those unique, funny, unforgettable car experiences anyone who had a first car can relate to.”
